Module 1.
Job Search Overview
Description
In this module, you’ll get an introduction to the course, as well as begin your journey of planning and searching for your next role, including an overview of the job search.

By the end of this module you will be able to:
- Tell the difference between a job and a role
- Set career goals
- Align your search with your career goals

This week includes 2 lessons. By the end of each lesson you will be able to:

Module 2.
Preparing for Your Job Search
Description
In our second week, we’ll start preparing for our job search. This will include everything from creating your career goals to deciding what you want in your next role to choosing which of your qualifications to highlight.

- Set your own career goals
- Articulate what you want in your next role
- Prepare your intangible and tangible items
Overview
This week includes 3 lessons. By the end of each lesson you will be able to:
Lesson 1: Prepping your goals, skills, and more
- Create career goals
- Know what you want in your next role
- Identify your talents, skills, and strengths
- Pinpoint your accomplishments and where you can improve
- Know your network
Lesson 2: Prepping Tangibles
- Familiarize yourself with the components of a resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn profile
- Preparing your network to help you as your search
- Conduct informational interviews
Module 3.
Finding and Applying
Description
As the name suggests, we’ll be exploring how to find and apply for jobs that could be your next role. There are lots of things you can do to both prepare and to be more successful in your search, and we’ll discuss all of that this week!

By the end of this module you will be able to:
- Find job opening
- Applying for a job
- Tailor your resume to the jobs you’re applying for
Overview
This week includes 2 lessons. By the end of each lesson you will be able to:
Lesson 1: How to find job openings
- Distinguish between internal and external searches
- Navigate the many places to search job listings such as job boards, company sites, or LinkedIn
- Interpret job descriptions
- Work with a recruiter
- Take advantage of job fairs
Lesson 2: Applying for a job
- Navigate different application systems
- Write a cover letter
- Tailor a resume and why
Module 4.
Interviewing
Description
In week 4, we look at what is perhaps seen as the most daunting part of the job searching process: interviewing. By the end of this week, you will have plenty of skills and resources to conduct an interview successfully, bringing your chances of getting that next role even higher.

By the end of this module you will be able to:
- Distinguish between the different types of interview
- Make a good first impression
- Answer even the toughest interview questions
Overview
This week includes 2 lessons. By the end of each lesson you will be able to:
Lesson 1: Preparing for your interview
- Distinguish between the different types of interview
- Explore effective professional communication
- Prepare answers and stories for the most common interview questions
- Prepare question for the interviewer
- Plan your interview, including how to dress and knowing where to go when you arrive
Lesson 2: The interview
- Master the first impression
- How to be professional, but also be yourself
- Find out about the new role
Module 5.
Next Steps
Description
In our fifth and final week of this course, we’ll look forward to after the interview and what your next steps will be, whether you get the role or not. No matter which way it goes, you will have learned something about the interview process, and gained valuable insights about the opportunities available to you as well as practiced your interviewing skills. That’s definitely a win!

- Know what to do if you don’t hear back from an interviewer
- Plan what to do whether you get the role or not

- Write a thank you note
- Plan what to do while you wait to hear back
- Know what to do if you don’t hear back from an interviewer
Lesson 2: You didn’t get the job
- Keep your door open
- Reevaluate your approach
- Keep applying
Lesson 3: You DID get the job
- Review the offer/contract
- Negotiate salary and benefits
- Give a two week notice at your current role
- Know when to turn an offer down
